About www.MyShippingContainerHouse.com
A resource page for people interested in shipping container construction
The beginning of an obsession
I first heard about building houses from shipping containers a couple of years ago. I was intrigued and fascinated by the possibilities and wanted to know more. I was able to find a lot of cool pictures, some descriptions and plans but not the kind of deep, detailed information I was looking for. Then about a year ago I saw a few episodes of a Bob Vila show where they were building a container home. I couldn't believe it! I learned a lot from those videos, and my interest was again piqued, and again I started looking for more information. Mostly I found more variations on what I'd seen before. I've kept my finger not the pulse of this construction technique ever since. I'm not sure why the idea of shipping container houses resonates so strongly with me. Maybe it's the idea of recycling what amounts to industrial waste, maybe it's because they're nearly indestructible. For whatever reason, I just think they are cool and have had it in my mind to build my own someday. In the meantime, I've been on the search for the details. The birth of a website
Fast forward... Earlier this year I started learning about internet marketing. One of the first things you read on this topic is "Choose products that you're genuinely interested in." Of course the first thing that popped into my head was Shipping Container Houses! So I started looking for information products on this topic, and was delighted to discover the Containers 4 Homes ebook. I contacted the Author about selling his book and found that he is a really nice guy who knows a ton about this topic. So that's how this web site came to be.The Future
The future is even better because I have big plans! Soon I will expand the site to include a blog and resource pages. The blog will be full of case studies on existing container structures and interviews with the people who built them. Down the road we may put up a forum for people to talk and trade information. But for now we're starting small: promoting a great product.Cheers!
